Individual Art Therapy with Children
Individual Art Therapy with Children
We offer individual art therapy services for children ages 3 and up. Although the child in treatment is the primary focus of the sessions, we believe the entire family unit plays a pivotal role in healing. We work together with families to help parents understand the needs of their children, to improve communication skills within the family system, and to help the family to instill the skills learned in session into the home. Children may not have the verbal language to explore their thoughts and feelings, which is why Art Therapy, in combination with play and sandtray interventions, can provide psychological distance to process sensitive topics.
Prior to starting individual art therapy, we complete a multi-step assessment in order to evaluate the needs of each client, and to develop treatment goals (see the “What To Expect” tab for more details).
Individual Art Therapy with Adults
We work with adults who struggle with a wide range of challenges including anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship conflicts, pandemic stress, and trauma. Contrary to popular belief, you do not have to be experienced in art to participate in or benefit from Art Therapy. There is no good or bad art and you will never be graded or judged on your artwork. The Art Therapists at Moonrise will provide adult clients with a variety of art media and directives to help support personal exploration and growth.
Virtual Therapy
We currently offer virtual art therapy in addition to in person sessions. If you prefer telehealth, you will be provided a “care package” of art materials to utilize during our sessions.
