Art Therapy Intern
Pronouns: she/her/hers
Vi Nguyen is a pre-licensed clinical intern currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Community and Trauma Counseling with a specialization in Art Therapy at Thomas Jefferson University. She holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Central Florida, bringing a holistic perspective to her work and a deep appreciation for the connection between emotional, physical, spiritual, and creative well-being. Informed by her own experiences navigating questions of identity and belonging, Vi brings insight, empathy, and cultural humility to her work with clients from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.
Before beginning her internship at Moonrise Art Therapy Collective, Vi worked in community-based programs supporting children, teens, and families, including as a Wellness Support Coordinator with AmeriCorps and an art therapy intern at the Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders. She has provided wellness education, youth mentorship, and vocational support for justice-involved youth, and has also worked with older adults experiencing Alzheimer’s disease and dementia—experiences that continue to shape her dedication to equity, accessibility, and meeting people where they are.
Vi is passionate about using art as a powerful tool for healing, self-expression, and connection—especially when words alone don’t feel like enough—and believes in its transformative potential to help clients explore emotions, build self-understanding, and foster personal growth. Her clinical experience includes supporting individuals navigating trauma, anxiety and mood disorders, eating disorders, body image concerns, and life transitions. Vi is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and draws on an eclectic, integrative approach that honors each person’s unique story and strengths. She strives to create a collaborative, nurturing space rooted in trauma-informed, person-centered care, where respect, curiosity, play, and creativity help clients feel safe to explore and express themselves.
Fluent in both English and Vietnamese, Vi is committed to providing therapy that bridges cultures and reduces language barriers. Outside the therapy space, she finds joy in dancing, glamping, being a foodie, and exploring new arts and crafts.
